Thailand18A short tour of Kanchanaburi from Bangkok - the chief city of Cental Thailand. Kanchanaburi province is famous for the Bridge over the River Kwai, built by POWs during the Japanese occupation of Southeast Asian countries. The "Death Railway" runs all the way from the Kwae River valley up to the Three Pagodas Pass. Many war remnants remain, including the POW huts with their contents, the War Cemetery and memorial at "Hell Fire Pass".

Day 1: Bangkok - Arrival

Arrive in Suvarnabhumi Airport, meet and transfer to city hotel for check-in. Overnight in hotel, Bangkok.

Day 2: Bangkok - Kanchanaburi (Breakfast/Dinner)

Breakfast at the hotel. Pick up at hotel lobby for an excursion to Kanchanaburi. Visit the JEATH war museum of prisoners-of-war huts as lived in by the Allied soldiers who surrendered to the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II, the Allied war cemetery and Bridge over the River Kwai that Alec Guinnes built and William Holden destroyed. Take a historic ride on the "Death Railway" train, passing lush forest and on the brink of a deep-dropping precipice. We take a long-tailed boat from the Resotel jetty to get to our Jungle Rafts accommodation, passing by unspoiled mountainous jungle scenery. Check-in on arrival. Visit to the nearby ethnic Mon tribal village and elephant riding through the bamboo forest. Dinner followed by a 45-minute presentation of Mon dances at the hotel.

Day 3: Kanchanaburi - Bangkok (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

Breakfast at the Jungle Rafts.Take an exciting boat ride downstream to Resotel pier and continue to visit to the "Hell Fire Pass" Memorial; then return to the Jungle Rafts for lunch. Check-out from the Jungle Rafts to transfer back to Bangkok and check-in at the hotel. Free at leisure to enjoy Bangkok's nightlife. Overnight in hotel, Bangkok.

Day 4: Bangkok - Departure (Breakfast)

Breakfast at the hotel. Free until time to transfer to the airport for departure flight.
