Day 1: Luang Prabang (Dinner)

Arrive in Luang Prabang airport, meet and transfer to hotel for check-in. Start your city tour with a visit to the national museum, the former royal palace. See Wat Mai with its five-tiered roof and exquisitely carved veranda where the Buddhist patriarch lives; Wat Vixoune influenced by Thai-Leu architecture and That Makmo, the watermelon-shape stupa. Proceed to Wat Xieng Thong, the most beautiful temple of Luang Prabang dating back to the 16th century. The roofs of the sim sweep low to the ground and colored glass panels adorn the walls of the chapel. Climb up Phousi Hill for a panoramic view of the city and the Nam Khan River. Dinner in Tam Nak Lao Restaurant of good Lao food. Return to hotel or stroll in the night market in the main road of the city.

Day 2: Luang Prabang – Pak Ou Caves – Luang Prabang (Breakfast/Lunch)

Breakfast at hotel . Your guide will take you to the jetty to board a traditional boat to go upstream on the Mekong River to visit the sacred Buddha caves at Pak Ou. Mount the stone steps of the hillside to get to Tham Ting and Tham Phoum caves housing hundreds of Buddha statues. Lunch in a local restaurant near the caves. On the way back to Luang Prabang stop at Ban Xiang Hai to see village life and distilling of rice-wine. In the evening stroll in the ethnic night market laid out on the main road of Sisavangvong. Enjoy the coffee cafes and restaurants along the main road of Sisavangvong.

Day 3: Luang Prabang – Kuangsi Waterfall (Breakfast/Lunch)

Breakfast at the hotel. Drop in at the morning market for a look at the daily produce brought here for sale. Then we drive to the Kuangsi Waterfall (30km). On the way, visit a Hmong village at Ban Na Ouane and a Khmu village at Ban Tha Pen. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Kuangsi Falls, swimming or wading in the clear pools of the tiered limestone formations. Picnic lunch near the waterfall. Back to Luang Prabang in the afternoon and time at leisure in the old city. You should walk about in this charming town to admire the colonial buldings and soak up the atmosphere of this World Heritage site. Overnight in hotel, Luang Prabang.

Day 4: Luang Prabang – Vientiane (Breakfast)

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Vientiane. Arrive in Vientiane, meet and transfer to your hotel and check-in. Afternoon visit of Vientiane: Wat Sisaket, the oldest and most beautiful temple in Vientiane; Ho Pra Keo, the royal temple turned into a small museum; That Luang Stupa, the most revered shrine in Laos; and stop at Patouxai (the Arch of Triumph). Stop at Talat Sao (the big central market) if time permits. Take a short walk along the Mekong riverside at sunset.

Day 5: Vientiane (Breakfast)

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport for your departure flight.
